Overview
Startonomics Tokyo will be a one-day workshop designed by international and local entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs providing a comprehensive overview of technology platforms, market opportunities, and investment climate from both US and Japan perspectives, and focused on startup success in internet, software, gaming, and mobile.

Success Story: DeNA Since its launch in November 1999, DeNA’s bidders Internet auction site has been expanding its services to include online shopping and services for mobile phone users. In March 2004 Mobaoku, an auction service exclusive to mobile phones, was launched. This was followed by the launch of Mobage-town, a mobile game community, in February 2006. Hitting the mark with mobile phone users, these and other mobile-related services have been growing at an explosive rate. As a result of these developments DeNA has also been enjoying increasing earnings from their online advertising business. |

US investment overview This session will provide a look at the current state of US startup investment, from both the venture capital and angel investor perspective. Topics will cover how the fundraising process works in Silicon Valley and elsewhere, how angel investment syndicates work, what market prices are for companies raising capital, and what the recent financial downturn means for US-based VCs and angels. Panelists will provide feedback on recent investment deals in which they have participated and/or received funding. |
